About
Inkshares democratizes publishing by letting readers vote for what they want to read. Authors submit book ideas. Readers share them, collaborate with our authors, and pre-order our books. We publish books that hit their pre-order goal. Because votes are cast with money, readers end up subsidizing our production costs. This greatly reduces our risk profile, meaning if a book doesn’t sell, the worst we can do is break even. Inkshares probes for hits without losing money. And it’s because of this model that we can pay authors 50% of gross revenue for print sales and 70% for ebook sales. This type of royalty structure is unheard of in the publishing world. Our books are sold on our website and in places like Amazon.com, Barnes & Noble and independent bookstores through our distribution partnership with Ingram.
